Southwell 3:30 (13th Nov 2006)
1m 3f - southwell-racecourse.co.uk Handicap (Class 2)
A tantalising handicap for a Monday. With some runners having more questions than answers lets use a process of elimination
St Savarin – Not likely. 3 for 22 beyond 7 furlongs the RP spotlight writers have made the mistake of thinking that polytrack and fibresand form are one and the same. All-weather sire progeny statistics of 8 fromm 113 speak otherwise.
Bann– Not likely. Recently gelded, using “Mel Maxims” one to oppose after poor showing last time out.
Lake Poet – Possible. Handicapper has given him chance but sired by Galileo out of Sadler's Wells progeny statistics (5-54) indicate that he wont like this surface much. Poor trainer course stats is a concern also.
Credit – All Weather debutant. The “rag” as Big Mac will say
Bobby Charles – Interesting! His trainer entered 5 horses in total in the race and he was the only one that remained after the declarations stage. Well handicapped and “form” on the surface one to consider from a trainer that has done well at Southwell. Runs well fresh.
Heathyards Pride – even though this is a step up in class equally effective on fibresand and polytrack.
Being bold will select Bobby Charles with Heathyards Pride to chase him home.. final decision will be made tomorrow..

No bet race after inputs from my mentor. Also as a rule I dont bet on Mondays as strange things seem to happen during racing "if you know what I mean.."
St Savarin won. Handicapping processing error on my part. Missed/overlooked the 2nd place of St Savarin at Southwell(6/9/06 Betfair Com Handicap Stakes)so obviously sire A/W stats should have been thrown out of the window.
Nothing lost in terms of money though. Phew..
