The above comments from the form book provide enough evidence to lump on Proclamation (2pt win!)
Very effective over distance, going, course and distance, I'm going to take a chance that we are about to witness a star in the making. Even though the sun is not shining at glorious Goodwood it is now time to make hay in the selection.

A race with a rich history and a long list of three-year-old superstars (the last 40 runnings has seen three-year-olds victorious 25 times) to which the name of PROCLAMATION can be added as he produced a performance that will make him the horse to fear for the rest of the season.
The only blemish on his record was inflicted by connections testing his Derby credentials in running him in the Dante first time up this year. Returned to his realm of around a mile, he has produced imperious performances which the Jersey Stakes winner topped here in lowering the colours of Soviet Song with a rock-solid Group-race field toiling in their wake after Ad Valorem left no hiding place over what was turned into a tough mile by the weather.
The Group 1 scene had sadly lost its star Shamardal to injury but Proclamation looks ready to pick up the mantle and if his generation's undisputed top filly Divine Proportions is brought over from France for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Newmarket in September and Soviet Song reopposes along with Aidan O'Brien's selected, it will be a race worth going a long way to see. The Breeders' Cup Mile would then be a glorious sequel.
The superlatives were being polished after Proclamation produced one of those last-to-first bursts that takes the breath away. Fusspots will point to his habit of edging when asked to hit top speed - which ended Nayyir's chances for another year - but there was no getting away from how he took apart a highly competitive race in a matter ofstrides from two furlongs out to have the race won into the final furlong.
Soviet Song's supporters, who will fancy their chances of overturning the verdict after the way she heroically chased the winner down to half a length after being outmanoeuvred early in the straight, could be deluding themselves as Proclamation did exactly what connections expected and started to ease having gone clear.
Newmarket will bring out the best in the winner again but Belmont may be a different matter but Proclamation looks a colt going places after stepping up on his Jersey Stakes and he deserves rating a more clear-cut winner.
Soviet Song was crucially well held before Proclamation eased and that act made the filly's finish look that much better.
Peoplemay point to her clearing away from Ad Valorem but that front-runner was getting home on guts to hold off Nayyir for third after that rival was knocked out of the race as Proclamation started hanging and David Junior shifted right under pressure to leave him the meat in the sandwich.
Nayyir had travelled well - if good enough had first drop on the winner - but could not match the instant acceleration of Proclamation. He remains that nearly Group 1 horse, certainly with the potential when everything falls right to claim a deserved first Group 1.
The other issue in the race was a separate tightening up against the inside rail behind Ad Valorem, in which Kandidate was the chief sufferer. He deserves rating up with Sleeping Indian as he had looked the biggest danger to Ad Valorem when badly squeezed out and eased.
Sleeping Indian did exceptionally well for a relatively inexperienced colt with just a couple of Listed wins to his name. He looked in peak condition and ran accordingly, posting a career-best and leaving hope for more to come if he learns from this experience.
Le Vie dei Colori, third last year, showed a shade more than recently but has not refound his top form.
Those that tried to live with Ad Valorem paid late on but David Junior, whose progressive form has been over ten furlongs, can pick up the winning way back over that sort of trip, having been burst trying to go the pace along with Mac Love, who gave himself no chance in taking a keen hold early as well.
Quito looked unhappy on the track and was still last and toiling over three furlongs out. That he looked to fly home making up fully four lengths on the pack confirms that there were plenty of tired horses just ahead of him.
Chic, who showed a very scratchy action to post, travelled as well as the principals turning in and in advance of them but she folded tamely and was reported to be slightly lame on her off-fore.[BJ]
