Course Description
Left handed, oval shaped track it features a long rise to the winning post. The run-in at 200yards is short. This course tends to appreciate fearless, bold jumping resolute, long striding gallopers who can stretch out over the long straights. However such animals need to be able to cope with this tracks very abrupt and tight turns.

It’s pretty hard to get away from Well Chief. A very progressive 5yo who was a recent third behind the best 2mile chasers in the land (Azertyuiop and Moscow Flyer) he seems to be the one who can put the cat amongst the pigeons in this years Cheltenham Queen Mother Chase. My only lingering doubt is that with plenty of pace in the race, his profile suggests a preference to be held up which might put him at a disadvantage during the short run in.
As a rule I don’t like betting odds on and there are no valid alternatives therefore, this is a no bet race and the notebook will be poised and ready.

Kings Bounty – A recent 3rd at Wetherby after 39 week absence. Steps back up to his preferred distance and therefore he should run well today.

Well Chief was turned over (fell) @ odds of 4/7. I might have been correct regarding his hold up tactics and the trouble he might find during the run-in
King's Bounty was 2nd at odds of 7/4 (beaten by 14 lengths)

Well Chief, who became a touch warm in the preliminaries but who looked on excellent terms with himself, was settled at the rear of the field and consented to switch off nicely. Gradually taking closer order, he moved up behind the leaders rounding the home-turn and was poised just behind them when he misjudged the fourth-last, came down too steeply and slithered to the ground. He had not been asked any sort of question up until his point of departure, and, to all intents and purposes, looked very much theone to beat just before he made his disappointing exit. Happily, he seemed to be none the worse for his tumble and lives to fight another day

King's Bounty had every chance, but he was toiling approaching the home straight, before staying on to take second place. This race may have come a little soon after his recent comeback effort.
