Kempton - 8th Sept 2007
Flying back to good old blighty tomorrow (well for a couple of weeks before heading back to the US in mid Sept)..
I love contentious tight handicaps races, however my suggestion would be to avoid the evening races at Wolverhampton.
3:25 1m - totesport.com london mile handicap (series final) (class 2)
7/2 Samarinda, 4/1 Unshakable, 4/1 Montpellier, 9/2 Electric Warrior
I’ve sided with horses that have proven credentials in grade 2 events. All of the short listed runners have something going for them.
Unshakeable was far from disgraced from unfavourable 2 draw last time out as the first 5 home at Goodwood that day were drawn 20, 14 ,13, 9, 16.
Montpellier was 5th in Unshakeable’s race and has been hampered or has had no luck in running in his last three races.
Samarinda is looking for his 5th win in last 6 starts and is noted as progressing fast. Still could be ahead of the handicapper.
Electric Warrior has run well in on polytrack and was 2nd in a fast time last time out.
Based on the overnight prices, Samarina and Unshakable offer the best value, but I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the others from the shortlist won the race. In addition Karoo Blue and Cape Hawk are unexposed and could run well. Top Mark’s pace profile suggests he’ll dominate the race up front and he could hold on to make the frame at a fair price to place on betfair.
Selections: Samarinda @ 5/1 or better and Unshakable @ 6/1 or better
4:25 7f - toteexacta handicap (class 4)
7/2 Landucci, Stonecrabstomorrow, 4/1 One Night In Paris, 5/1 Desert Dreamer
Hold up performer, Desert Dreamer has been done no favours by the draw
One Night In Paris was reported as finishing lame in March after showing progressive form on the all weather surface. Given a quite ride 10 days ago she could be primed for a good race today.
Stonecrabstomorrow returns to favoured surface (and distance?)
Top rated Landucci, is noted as one that could defy a penalty after his recent win
Overnight prices suggest value bets on
Landucci @ 5/1 or better and One Night In Paris @ 6/1 or better
