Warts and All (24th July 2006)

Tiger Woods, the ultimate professional! When push came to shove he had the practical (his golf game) and mental skills to repel all borders and win the open golf championship after losing his farther recently and prior to that rebuilding his golf swing when all the ‘experts’ wondered why.

I was quite taken by the psychological similarities (mental) between playing golf at his level and punting. Especially after reading these comments I found on the internet

When you are on a winning streak, remind yourself of the following:

. You are not a genius - be humble
. Be patient; you still need to do your homework
. Chances are, you have had some good luck
. Again, be humble

When you are on a losing streak, remind yourself of the following:

. You are not cursed - be positive.
. Be patient; opportunities will arise in due course.
. Chances are, you have had some bad luck.
. Again, be positive.

To quote

"... Woods is a golfer who has succeeded because he has kept his emotions in check, no matter how tough the circumstances ...."

With the betting process nearing completion, understand betting psychology will be my next area of interest so I can ride the peaks and troughs of emotions in the coming months.
