Ripon 3:30 - 19th Aug 2006

3:30 6f - William Hill Great St Wilfrid Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2)

A key aspect of punting involves recognising repeating patterns and hopefully exploiting them for financial gain. In last years event Mr Wolf tried to “make-all”. In so doing he faded in the final furlong but injected the necessary pace to make the far side even more dominant than normal on soft going. I expect the same scenario to occur today as Mr Wolf is the only horse that likes to front-run and you’ve guessed it.. he is drawn high.

So short listed horses coming off the pace drawn high (suggested split around stall 11) are:

Traytonic, Excusez Moi, Kings Gait, Continent, Tagula Sunrise

The class of the field and unlucky in running in the Stewards' Cup Excusez Moi, is selected as he has shown good form on the predicted going (soft, good to soft in places). The other I like the look of is Kings Gait who is another that has shown preference for soft conditions and is well handicapped.
